Wellness

Wellness has different meanings for different people. For many, wellness means balance: having enough time to spend with loved ones, tend to your own needs, earn a living, and give back to your community. It can also mean staying healthy: eating well, exercising, sleeping well, and having a clean bill of health at the doctor.

Mental health wellness might mean that you practice self-care consistently, speak to your therapist regularly, or simply get through your day without a panic attack or depressive episode. It’s important, however, not to compare your wellness journey to others’. No one wellness path looks like another — we all have our own needs, quirks, and histories. And, of course, accepting yourself for who you are, may be the most important wellness tactic out there.

Wellness is not something you must achieve on your own. Amassing a support network of people who lift you up and understand who you are is key. Seeking out professional help when the going gets tough, or when you are looking to maintain your overall happiness and emotional wellbeing, can also benefit your overall wellness.
