Therapy

Unfortunately, there is still a stigma attached to the idea of therapy, and it can be easy to feel intimidated by the process, ashamed for needing help, or embarrassed. Therapists are here to help and there’s no shame in seeking out care — and you don’t have to have a diagnosable mental illness to experience therapy’s benefits. All of us could use a non-judgmental, highly trained professional to share our feelings with, and that is exactly what a good therapist is.

Depending on what issues you’re struggling with, it may be recommended that therapy be paired with medication. Your therapist can help you navigate this process by helping you find a well-qualified psychiatrist.

Once you’ve made the decision to begin therapy, it’s important to know that it can take a few tries to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. Stick with it, though, because finding someone you feel comfortable with is vital to the success of your treatment. Therapy is effective, and even just a few sessions (or weeks of online therapy) can be beneficial — most clients report feeling better after just three months. What’s more, studies have shown that the benefits of therapy can last years beyond your last session.
